In parts one and two of this series, I've explored what gets players on coaches' radars and how those lists evolve over the two years leading up to June 15.

Now comes the crucial question: How do coaches decide who actually gets contacted, and when?

The answer isn't uniform. Different programs approach June 15 with completely different philosophies based on their resources, reputation, and recruiting confidence.

Understanding these approaches - and recognizing which type of coach you're dealing with - can help you read the signals correctly and respond appropriately throughout your process.

The Four June 15 Strategies

Based on program philosophy, resources, and recruiting confidence, coaches typically fall into one of four camps, which I'll outline below.

The number of contacts made often reflects where each head coach's aforementioned "talent floor" lies.

The better the program, the fewer American players they have available to them in a given recruiting class who they believe can improve their standing.

That list might be further narrowed if the school has a certain limitation - geographic, ethos, academic standards, etc - that means some players automatically won't consider it.

A few are still staring at silent phones, wondering when their moment will come. Here's the thing: whatever your situation right now doesn't define your final outcome. But what you do next? That matters. The Three Types of Post-June 15 ...
Your last-minute June 15 checklist
June 15 is less than a week away. If you're a rising junior, this is the day college coaches can finally contact you directly. Some players will see their phones light up with emails at midnight. Others will get calls throughout the day. Some might not hear from their top choices immediately. Regardless of which camp you fall into, being prepared matters. The Contact Reality Every program goes...
