In part one, I explored the three-circle framework that gets players on coaches' radars: talent, interest, and athleticism.

Today, we're going deeper into the methodology behind how coaches build and refine their June 15 contact lists over the two years leading up to that crucial date.

The Methodology Behind the Madness

Some coaches systemize their recruiting to an incredibly nerdy level (guilty), typically guided by the principle that "if you can't measure it, you can't manage it."

Others rely much more on gut feeling - even if their assistant puts everything together in a beautiful spreadsheet, if the head coach likes the player (or doesn't), that's final.

Whatever the individual approach, here's an overview of the five-step process that unfolds.
